• If you attempt to call and express a complaint you will be berated until you hang up. They also do not accept complaints until they have a name and face to go with said complaint, so as to ensure an even worse experience for the person on the other end. In addition to ALL THAT, they will also threaten and coerce you into coming back while simultaneously disclosing other people's private cases and information as if it has any prevalence to your experience (but it does prove that they do not care about the privacy of their other cases).
Some of the service I've received here is amazing to me and not in a good way. I can't believe they treat people this way -- I've requested multiple times that if they don't know how or cannot do a service for me, to just send me somewhere that can. But after many assurances (and writing over my legal documents and then whiting them out again...) that they CAN provide the services I need.
• Bigotry, transphobia and a reluctance to help in an otherwise simple process. (Which other courthouses have, surprisingly, no problem with!)
The court will go after your family members to get their money if you don't have it.
My experience was great. Judge Rackstatter follows the law. He saw through the smoke the other lawyer was tryign to pull over on the judge. Judge gave an excellent ruling. Would deal with again.
I don't know if the staff is just so under-trained that they can't handle doing the type of jobs they're provided (I'm constantly shifted around anyways for basic questions). They also filled out my paperwork WITH ME and told me how to do certain things (which are incorrect) but now will not take responsibility because "they cannot provide legal advice". Then stop providing it to the people that are asking you for help. They even have a sign next to it that states what they can and cannot do (yes, I HAVE seen it), but they don't follow their own rules. I've been to a courthouse twice now and these were my first and only experiences with anything of this nature...To receive treatment like this -- not just to me but also my wife -- is abhorrent.
Good to know the people working at this courthouse have no qualifications to assist people with the courthouse's paperwork.
• A complete disregard to organization or accountability. If someone tells you something (ANYTHING) at the Clackamas County Courthouse I have learned to NOT believe it. Not a single person in that building has any idea of what they're talking about. An example: They will tell you that they will call you in a week (which, to the woman who answered the phone: we HAVE been called MULTIPLE times, so maybe do some research into your own job) only to NOT call you in two months (which leaves us, the poster, to assume weather might be a factor). When you finally call them to ask about your case they will yell at you and berate you for even daring to reiterate what THEY told you for the sake of being right. They will also tell you how to fill out forms only to tell you after two months of going back and forth that you (they) were wrong and you have to completely restart the process.
• A lack of professional presence. They are unable to keep a cool, level and professional head when working with ANYONE for ANY reason and start ALL interactions off aggressively. I have been talked down to, yelled at and hung up on for asking nothing more than a simple question.
P.S. (After this, I promise I'm finished) Clackamas County Courthouse does not check their reviews, just so you know - not even their supervisors, as expressed on the phone today by their supervisor. They believe they are without fault in everything and prove it by keeping their head buried in the sand, because bad reviews don't exist if you don't read them!
I finally told them halfway through my case that I would just go to a different source...Other courthouses can do the things I need, but I was actually contacted by a member of their staff. THEY pursued ME to continue even though I was willing to accept that I just lost over 120 dollars to this place. I was willing to take that hit but THEY told me that they would print me "brand new forms" that they "have now" that they did not have before. To the supervisor I spoke with on the phone (I believe her name was "Robin") -- yes. I know you've done multiple gender change forms, Miss Robin, because (as I said before your comment on the phone) that I have SEEN the multiple changes for names and genders MYSELF ... So maybe you should have the paperwork by now. OH??? You DO have it ... Because Candace printed it out FOR ME. So NO, I am NOT the one thinking that I am "special" or somehow entitled...I am entitled as a citizen of this country, a taxpaying, hardworking AMERICAN that YOU should provide me the service that I provide to MY customers. And by the way? A lot of MY customers have serious ailments like cancer and they can seem to put a smile on their faces daily.
I would go on (because OH BOY could I) but it would be getting redundant at that point. This courthouse is the worst in this area with uneducated (or under trained) senior staff members who will make sure to pitfall you and pickpocket you throughout your whole interaction with them. By far one of the worst experiences of my life; I absolutely dread having to work with these con-artists. Please, I implore you, if you can manage it: stay as far away from this courthouse as possible (unless you are a masochistic rich person with too much time on your hands).
To lay it out: I have received my name change there and am currently at the tail end of my gender change. They give me the most raw attitude -- not for my NAME change, mind you, but over the gender change. The two males that I have dealt with at the front (primarily for my name change) have been wonderful...And that's the only wonderful part about that place. Honestly boys, find a better job. You're their shining stars.
'If you cannot afford an attorney one will be provided to you by the court at no additional cost...'
In the time I have had to deal with the Clackamas County Courthouse I have been met with:
B.S.
My main complaint was that I be treated with respect -- the same respect they should provide to everyone. I get in return that I'm demanding that I'm somehow entitled to "more respect" than others ... No, I am asking to be treated with the SAME respect of the people going through the very same motions. I've never had an experience like this before that it's honestly bewildering. To speak to me like I'm a criminal and to treat me like I've done something wrong when I'm in a CIVIL claims case.
Three stars for the historic building! 0 stars for customer service and -2 stars for prosecuting attorney's who are like dog poop you accidentally step into they all stink and they're super annoying nobody likes them not even their wives most of them end up divorced.
If I could give this courthouse 0/5 stars, I would. Every single employee is not only rude and inappropriate, but unhelpful and lacking the intelligence required to work in such an important government position. They give misinformation to people who are trying to post civil claims and, in addition to this, will blame (and fine) the poster for their own (the courthouse's) mistakes.
They have no forms for gender changes, but instead of redirecting you to a courthouse that DOES, they mislead you into thinking THEY know how to go about it to trick you out of $121 ($10 for a printed and white-out ridden name change form). Talked with 6+ employees who confirmed paperwork was filled out correctly only to have it dismissed for being 'too confusing' by a judge. Got a call from a rude woman who told us we shouldn't have followed their instructions because 'they're not attorneys.'
I pride myself on being a good customer because I think it reflects on my character, and I've never felt so disrespected that I've had to not only call them to complain (which is prompting THIS review) but to be kept on the phone to argue for over twenty minutes. Most of which was spent correcting me on small things and not addressing the overall issue.
